WATCH: What So Not plays SEVEN house parties in ONE night

Written by on February 1, 2019

Recently Chris Emerson (aka What So Not) did one of the coolest ‘tours’ we’ve ever seen a DJ do: he drove around Sydney, playing a total of seven house parties in just one night. Now we’ve been treated to an official recap video of the event, along with the news that What So Not plans on ‘taking things to the interstate’ to do an even bigger tour across Australia.

What So Not has also just released a brand new tune called, “We Can Be Friends.”

The new song is a collaboration with Herizen, the singer-actress from Netflix’s The Get Down. And according to Emerson, the track came together rather easily during a writing camp in Nicaragua.

“On the first take, Herizen belted out the chorus over some chords I was playing,” he says of the experience. “We caught a moment and ran with it. I’d been listening to a lot of Dilla, did some simple drum programming and played in textures and riffs on a Nord. As the song developed I retained that feel, keeping the production light and lush centering the song around the beautiful and haunting vocal.”
